Poul Anderson used one where A explains things that both A and B know at great length, while B sits there quietly fuming at A's pedantry or didacticism, but can't tell A to shut up for reasons of courtesy or hierarchy. It was entertaining the first time I saw it in one of his stories. But it got old.
Dear Mr. Stoddard, this had nothing to do with what was said by Ms. Catelli, but as an old-school GURPS fan who has recently returned to the game, I want to say how much I enjoy the work you've done for SJ Games over the years. Your 3rd edition Steampunk book was one of their very best.
I also love your 4th ed. Furries PDF. And the mention you made of Vicky Wyman's Xanadu comic in the bibliography of the 4th Ed. Fantasy book. I was stunned to see it -- I love it, and I would have enjoyed seeing a GURPS worldbook for it, but I know it's one darn obscure comic even by independent standards! I shared that news with several other old-school RPG and Xanadu fans I know, and they said they were going to get copies of the Fantasy book just to see that listing and to see if anything from it was used in the rest of the book. So I hope I sent a few sales your way.

I'm particularly glad you found GURPS Furries satisfactory. I did my best to give a fair treatment to the genre, and to provide some interesting variations on it. I had a great deal of fun working out maneuvers and martial arts for the various furry races. . . .
You did one of the best jobs with 'furry' stories/RPG characters that I've ever seen, and thank you for that. Now I just have to get all the other GURPS 4th Ed. books and PDFs that were mentioned in it!
